Traitor's Kiss

Day 65.2/365

By Ellie HoovsPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

As our lips touched

I felt the grease

left by oil slicked words

you'd tried to sweeten them

with fermented honey

as if I would not notice

or forget

that I was craving

something more than flowers

and flowering words

after a long day

but the truth was on your breathe

which you tried but failed

to hold

as you leaned in

you had eaten

the last

of the snacks.
