Confessions Through Poetry

I wanted you to love me
Like I thought of you
I ached and I obsessed over you
I did everything to gain your attention
And would do anything to keep it
So I would lose myself in you
And I would fade from view
Until only a shell of myself remains
A memory in the rear view mirror
See that there is the problem:
I would do anything to keep it
Even if it meant changing myself
Transforming myself
into the best reflection
To keep your undivided attention
But in the end,
I realized you could never love me
Because I never loved myself enough
to keep me
