Tornado

the sirens sound

telling me to seek shelter

but there is none around

your tornado tail breaks them all

glass bowls shatter

windchimes clang in a most unpleasant pattern

they scream at me to run, take cover

but I’m deaf and blind

no sight for red flag warning signs

I walk barefoot toward the cyclone

with arms wide open

heart on a silver platter

I squeal in excitement as I’m pulled into the sky

fluttering around with the broken boards and cows

I feel like I’m flying

until I fall

the wind speed drops and so do I

eyes still covered with a blindfold

yet I can feel myself hurtling towards the ground

panic ensues

I wonder if I’d still be alive

if I hadn’t met you

sad poetry
