Together

Poetry

I see the walls crumble

As walls are going up

In the hearts of people

around the nation

the globe

Is it time for a rebirth?

Some want to go right

While others go left

Meeting at a crossroad

Of smears, jeers, and death

Society collides

I fail to recognize

The heart & soul of people

Full of love, now strife

Is this Life?

Yells, screams, names called

I feel too small

To shout over the pain

We're going the wrong way

Belittled

Destitute

The bottom of social class

Not enough fame to be famous

to make a difference

to change by leaving this game

Labels reign

Concerned about voter turnout

while people die on the streets

in isolation, loneliness, burnout

drugs, domestic violence

all in silence

as people behind the podium

cause a greater divide

Together we stand

Why are we falling

Uncover the truth of what's been stolen

Friendships, relationships

Consideration for the next

What type of Society have we become?

Strip away labels

we're all the same

instead of finding

where to cast blame

if we want to survive and thrive 'til tomorrow

we're going to have to love each other

despite what can pull us apart

stay together

or there will be nothing left

of the planet we call home

to be better

point the finger at self
