To The Touch

An ode

Velvet would even be too rough

Satin and silk from ankles to cuffs,

I don’t bluff!

Shea butters, whipped creams, oils, scrubs

The skin I’m in is soft to the touch.

Regimens and routines, expressions of self love

Body care, like therapy, keeps my spirits up

Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall, there’s no scruff.

Warm, glowing, buttery, in any month

The skin I’m in is soft to the touch!

No shame on you if your heels are tough

I won’t judge if your knees are scuffed,

Or if your palms are callous and rough,

We all prioritize different stuff.

As for me?

My sheen rivals gold dust.

Come, call my bluff

Graze my legs, give my shoulder brush,

Don’t try and squeeze, that’s just too much.

Don’t look too long, might make you blush

Like ancient queens of empires and such,

The skin I’m in is soft to the touch.
