To My Best Friend…

You are my SOLID GROUND. You are my HAPPY PLACE. You are my HOME.

To My Best Friend…

If life could see the man I do,

Then it wouldn’t be so hard on you.

It wouldn’t make you fight this way,

Or steal your smile from day to day.

If I could take your pain away,

I’d trade my best nights for your worst day.

I’d carry every weight you bear,

So you could breathe without despair.

I see the way you hide your face,

Like life has left you with no place.

Like every step is sharp and steep,

And nothing good is yours to keep.

I know you’re tired of feeling hurt and sad,

Of feeling like everything always turns out bad.

I wish I knew the words to say,

To make all your pain go away.

Losing someone you love, is a pain that will never fade,

But at least nothing can ever take away the precious memories y’all made.

I see the way it broke your soul,

The way it left a hollow hole.

A love once held, now gone from sight,

Still haunts your quiet, sleepless nights.

You’ve lost so much you can’t replace,

I see it written across  your face.

I also know a grief like yours,

A different kind that still endures.

Two years have passed since I let go,

Of the man I loved and still miss so.

So maybe that’s why I can see,

The way you hurt so quietly.

You don’t believe you’re strong at all,

But I have watched you rise from fall.

Each time you break, you build again,

Sometimes you lose, but mostly win.

You’ve even helped me more than you know,

It’s because of you, I’ve started to grow.

You make me smile when I am low,

You help the light inside me show.

And though you don’t seem to see,

You’ve been a steady part of healing me.

You’ve held me up when I was weak,

When I had no strength left to speak.

And I don’t think you understand,

How much I need you holding my hand.

So if the world feels cold and cruel,

And life feels like an endless duel,

Just know I’ll stand right by your side,

Through every wave, through every tide.

Because….

You accept me despite the fact that I’m broken,

You’ve even listened to every word I’ve spoken.

You’ve put up with me when no one else would,

You’ve made me smile when no one could.

The night before I met you, I prayed,

For a friendship like the one we’ve made.

I promise I’ll always be by your side,

And when you need a hug my arms will open wide.

When we met, I knew I couldn’t let you walk past,

Our connection was instant, automatic and fast.

I saw something special and true,

My best friend had appeared, out of the blue.

You ARE the strength that you don’t see,

The only person who understands me.

A soul that’s bruised, but still alive,

Still learning how to just survive.

You are not your darkest days,

You’re not the mistakes that life displays.

Not every loss you’ve had to face,

Not every fall you’ve taken from grace.

I may not know what lies ahead,

Or all the words still left unsaid.

But I know this much to be true:

I will never stop believing in you.

And when you forget your worth again,

I’ll be here to remind you, my friend.

I’ll be the voice that calls you near,

The one who whispers, “Bro, I’m here.”

And there’s a truth I hold inside,

Without you, I might have died—

Not loud, not proud, not meant to show,

But something only I would know:

You matter more than you can see,

Cause you have been a real friend to me.

You are my calm, my steady ground,

The safest place I’ve ever found.

And if the world should fall apart,

You’ll still be home inside my heart.

So keep on going, don’t give in,

Even when you feel worn thin,

Because I swear, through all you do,

There’s still a life that waits for you.

And if you ever lose your way,

I’ll be the one who’s here to stay.

Not just in words, but in the fight—

I’ll hold your hand through every night.

You are loved, more than you know,

Even when you feel so low.

And if you don’t believe it yet—

On you is where I’d place my bet.

Two lives crashed together unplanned,

With trembling hearts and shaking hands,

Two hearts still learning how to mend,

Is how two lost souls became BEST FRIENDS!
