To Love Or Not To Love

Nah, That's Not Really A Question. Who You Love, Though, Matters A Great Deal

To talk of love

is hard to do.

The ins and outs

that get you thru.

But when it dies,

as it will do.

Then the talk of love

won't work for you.

From you it's cold

and dead and old.

Not at all the love

you have been told of.

It's dark and mean

and may be bad.

You can't tell

of what

you have not had.

You may have had it once,

but now it is gone.

You had to grow up fast,

you got hard and torn.

You want to know if

it has a shot.

To give you what

they say they got.

If not, I know,

you will be ok.

You have come

this far and you

are ok.

So, the tale I tell,

of this orb they call love.

Is that love for your

self is just enuf.

I love me,

a bit more

with each new day.

And if you know me,

at all....

then, that is all I need say!

Lol, for me, all love ever does is break and burn and end. Loved your poem!

  • My wife always likes to point out that when Jesus tells us that the two great commandments are to love God with all you've got & to love your neighbor as yourself, "yourself" is included.

Way to go for it is important to love oneself.
