To live

When fear changes places

As a child, I never understood what life was about.

I feared beginning, even when I had already begun.

I feared failing, not knowing

that mistakes are also part of the journey.

I won’t say everything has changed,

for memories and words still haunt me.

But now I begin to fear death.

That fear terrifies me, I run—

yet my steps don’t reach far enough.

Then I let go of my fear of living,

and it shakes me, it halts me.

I return. It has been too much.

I’m not scared of living anymore.

Perhaps that alone.. is living.
