To Honour My Muse

Words so easily pour onto the page

These words are a little different to my style

I often write of tales of heartbreak and woe,

Lately my Muse has poured words onto my page

Telling of excitement and happiness I now know.

***

My Muse brings out the absolute best of me

Wanting me to shout to the world and all,

Words pour so easily on to my page now

My Muse wanting it written big or small.

***

My Muse is all about delight, love and smiles

Making my world a far better, happier place,

A world filled with happiness and delight

Causes a smile to so often grace my face.

***

My Muse causes me to laugh, hard and loud

Calls for me to begin loving long and hard,

Believes I deserves the long awaited happiness

Patiently waiting for me to lower my guard.

***

It’s refreshing knowing someone has my back

My Muse stands strong and tall, believing in me,

Gives me love and trust like I’ve missed for years

Setting my scarred heart and woe-some pen free.

***

These words are written to honour my Muse

To let them know they are so appreciated,

I love their daily patience and loving words

The skipped heart beats that have me captivated.

About the Creator

Colleen Millsteed

My first love is poetry — it’s like a desperate need to write, to free up space in my mind, to escape the constant noise in my head. Most of the time the poems write themselves — I’m just the conduit holding the metaphorical pen.
