Love is an act of war

If love is a sin,

I’ll wear the mark on my chest

with all the pride we have.

Let the world hate us,

scorn us, call us abominations.

You’re the best monster I know.

If love is a sin,

let them throw their rocks.

I’ll run away with you

to where the world can’t catch us,

hand in heretical hand.

Home is only home

if it’s with you, after all.

If love is a sin,

then let them burn us alive

until the skin is charred

and the ashes fill their lungs.

Our flame will burn brighter

than theirs ever could.

If love is a sin,

and Hell is a punishment,

then I’ll be there with you.
