To Clean Those Hard-to-Reach Places

If ya gonna clean

then clean gangsta hard

No skim surface wipe overs

all genteel-like leaving pathogenic mayhem

spirits will choke on later

because you didn’t roll sleeves up

get on hands and knees

to examine and clear foul-smelling gunk

inconveniently nestled in crevices of mind

like

you can keep thinking every day

with yesterday’s decayed funky guilt

last month’s toxic eww stress stew

and last year’s à la carte sadness salad

stuck between metaphorical teeth

People too polite to say something

but

mirror your dirt

hopeful you get subtle hints

and here’s me all

NAH

Squalid conditions are sacrilege

self-inflicted assault

while filth flows

stagnating spirit life channels

emboldened by inaction

mold on scrotum

maceration to labia

now progressed septicemia

no halfsies on salmonella

and that deathbed feeling without dying

cuz hunger threw discernment to the wind

Didn’t want to come across as

difficult

picky

demanding

particular

about what enters digestive systems

but gotta live with repercussions

Hell to the

NO

A neat freak I am not

but can’t eat in mess

Cannot process evaluate or resolve

while fungus fetid spores multiply exponentially

in mental emotional spiritual or etheric bodies

as you calmly discuss menu options

when honest to Orunmila

my mind is miles away

with buckets of hot water and disinfectant

on a search and destroy mission

scour and scrub

sweep and scrape

soak and sanitize

burn sage and sweetgrass

Residual microbes left

develop resistance

come back stronger

won’t take you seriously
