The most famous luxurious passenger liner built by man on this Earth

Upon completion South Hampton

It was berth

Built between 1909 & 1911

It was a display of grace

A picture of Heaven

Powered by pressurised steam from

Burning coals

In a below compartment, many men

Worked in this hole

A crew of 900 staff were excited

To work on the Titanic

Wearing superb uniforms

That were classic

The atmosphere was nothing

But magic

Rails of gold, low & behold

Everting did shine in the newly

Built ship for all to enjoy

The craftsmanship

It carried the world’s richest people

And others looking for a new life

Sadly, the boat gets into strife

And they never arrive

Their aim is to survive

The intended course was from

South Hampton to New York

Passengers enjoyed their meals

With Champagne that was corked

Heading out to sea, April 12th, 1912

Excitement was high

Four days of glorious cruising

Unaware they were going to die

The unsinkable ship, it was called

It hit an Iceberg

Immediately people were

Sprawled

The starboard side was hit

Punching holes in steel plates

It happened so quickly

There was no time to contemplate

Compartments flooded

The vault doors closing

With workmen inside

Realised their fate

And said their good-bye’s

The Titanic held 2200 passengers

Only enough lifeboats for 1200

Was onboard

The less fortunate started praying

To our Lord

April 15th,1912 the Titanic sank

At first, they all thought it was a prank

The ship was going to sink

Quicker than the all could think

No help near them at the time

The Captain knew this was not

A good sign

Men, women, kids scattered for

Their lives

They knew they had to try

the Second class had no hope

How on earth did they cope

Titanic sank in 2 hours & 40 minutes

Knowing their fate, their life

They viewed in snippets

The water temp was 32 degrees

Death came within 15 minutes

Survival was not a breeze

Scary stuff, at that moment

They had it tough

Over 1500 people died,

That stark, cold, terrifying morning

Sadly, they died

Without warning

705 survived, now lived with the trauma

For the rest of their lives

The wreck sits on a seabed beneath the surface

$7.5 million dollars

Now worthless

The last bodies found were the corpse of three men

But I don’t know when

Discovered in a collapsed boat 200 miles from the wreck

Their fight for life was

One hell of a trek

Researchers found 340 bodies after it sank, thus

1500 people killed. 1160 bodies remain lost

And at what cost

They wanted to make World News

That they did

On this cruise

3 of 12 dogs survived, all others perished

They were once all cherished

The wreck discovered at the bottom of the sea

Was World News for all to see

1985 a Joint American & French Expedition

Made the discovery

of this ship that was once a

luxury

To my surprise, there were settlements

$430 dollars for each life lost

On the Titanic

To me this is tragic

Eventually, the Titanic will be nothing

But a rust stain

On the ocean floor

It will not be there for all

To explore

We will never comprehend the fear they felt

Knowing this was their fate

That was dealt
