Having lost
that part that mattered most,
carelessly given away.
With little or no regard for the future.
How cheaply you traded it.
How easily you let it slip from your fingers.
All for some imagined security.
Surely no will know, just pretend you still have it.
Just ignore those inner voices telling you the truth.
Rush by that mirror and the betrayal it reflects.
You’ve let them steal it, a bit at a time.
Slowly over many years they’ve picked at it.
And you let them do it.
Convincing yourself that it was for the good.
Now those last remnants have been taken.
To late you realize your mistake,
So just put on your fucking mask and get in line.
