Till Death Love Won’t Part

They met when life was still unfolding,

Before the worries had begun.

Two hopeful hearts standing together,

Beneath the warmth of youthful sun.

The years ahead were unpredictable,

Filled with joy and unexpected pain.

Yet side by side they faced it all,

Again and again and again.

A wedding ring upon a finger,

A promise spoken from the soul.

Not merely words exchanged one day,

Yet a lifelong chosen goal.

Children came and changed their lives,

Bringing sleepless nights and pride.

Every challenge felt lighter,

With someone faithful by their side.

Money worries visited often,

Hard times knocked upon the door.

Still they found a way to smile,

And hold each other even more.

The decades passed with quiet speed,

Youth slowly fading from their face.

Yet something deeper took its place,

A lasting bond time couldn’t erase.

Learning each other’s strengths.

Every habit, every fear.

Knowing exactly what was needed,

Without a single word to hear.

When illness came without warning,

Love became both shield and guide.

Holding hands through hospital halls,

Refusing ever to leave a side.

Grey hair replaced the colours of youth,

Lines appeared around each eye.

Each mark became a testament,

To a love that would not die.

Then came the day all fear arrives,

When one heart prepared to rest.

Leaving behind a lifetime of memories,

And a love that had passed every test.

Though death may separate two bodies,

It cannot erase what they became.

For true devotion leaves its mark,

Far beyond a spoken name.
