Through That Door.

Until We Meet Again.

I couldn't walk through that door with you.

I had to let you go.

"It's just for now." You said, "It's not forever."

But it feels like forever has gone by since we were last together.

It's like I've already lived an entire lifetime without you since you've been gone.

I wish I could have kept you from going.

I wish I could have pulled you back down the way we came.

But you were ready for whatever was on the other side.

You were tired of the walk.

Your legs ached, your bones were fragile and you just wanted to rest.

How I wish aging wasn't a thing.

How I wish time was slow.

As I stare at your back as you walk away I can only hope you find your peace.

You look back over your shoulder and wave, "I'll meet you here again one day."

Your words fade into the wind as you disappear.

I trace the path with my heart so I can remember how we traveled together.

I close the door with a gentle pull and smile, "Until we meet again. I'll love you forever."
