Through my eyes.
……written with my sister, Gift, in mind.

You've always been my beauty,
A flawless reflection of what I thought beauty was meant to be.
The world around me tried to offer its versions—
But none came close to the glow you held.
____
Every mirror showed me your face,
Even when it wasn't you I was looking at.
Each glimpse of beauty in strangers, in art, In anything I found lovely —
It was just a part of you, scattered around me.
____
I measured it all against your grace,
Against the elegance you never even noticed.
But now you speak of doubt —
Saying you don't see it, questioning your own worth.
And here I am, left wondering,
If you can't see it, have I been blind all along?
____
Has the beauty I held so sacred been nothing but a trick of my mind?
Or maybe it was never mine to claim, just yours.
____
How can the sky doubt its blueness,
Or the sun deny its warmth?
You were the source, the reflection in my eyes,
And now I wonder if my myopic vision has betrayed me.
___
If you can't see the beauty I've adored,
Does that make my vision wrong?
Or perhaps the mirror is simply cracked,
And we've forgotten where the truth lies?
____
For Even if your eyes falter, mine remain fixed—
Still tracing the lines of your face,
The glow in your skin, the grace in your form.
For you are beauty, seen or unseen.
____
And though you question, though you doubt,
I will never forget what I've always known.
You've been my beauty, my light,
And that truth remains-
whether you see it or not.
