Three Generations Deep
Living on a Small Farm
From the small garden we planted out back,
We pick the best for our evening dinner.
Tomatoes and beans we add to the sack,
Which Grandma will can to last the winter.
*
Working the land with the sweat of our brow.
Plowing the fields and planting the corn.
Raising some chickens and maybe a sow.
Doing the work for which we were born.
*
Finishing our day with the fading sun.
Heading back home and we gather around.
Telling some stories and having some fun.
Singing and laughing, what a joyful sound.
*
Together under one roof we shall sleep.
Living our lives three generations deep.
