Thoughts on Vocal’s Increasingly Odd Challenges
And why I’ll never participate again
Actually, I think we should
ban these
challenges. I mean,
do you really think I want to spend my
evenings
finding ways to
get my thoughts out through
hysterically
intricate means?
Just because I CAN make it work, at least
kinda, doesn’t mean that I
love doing it.
Maybe I have better things to do!
No one, not even
one person, asked if
perhaps I might in fact be
quite busy with more
relaxing pastimes.
Say I was
trying to finish the last chapter of my
untitled novel. I could be attempting
very intentionally to focus on the fate of my characters
when, instead, I find myself considering which words begin with the letter
“X.”
You can’t deny — it’s quite inconsiderate of the Vocal leaders, and . . . oh,
zounds. I’ve done it anyway, haven’t I?

The title, subtitle and picture sucked me in big-time haha. I had to check the story out, and was expecting a big rant😄 I started reading and a few seconds in thought, “is this an Abecedarian for the challenge?” Brilliantly done, and excellent fakeout. Nailed the constraints and the tongue-in-cheek tone is great!
