They Believe...

Living on Separate Stars

By Geraldine L AndersonPublished about a year ago • 2 min read

Recalling their journey

since first they connected

Thinking how can it be?

THIS wasn't expected,

and she thought…

'I believed he needed me'

They were broken entities

when first they found each other.

They had suffered agonies and

sensed the pain within each other.

Wanting to console her and

her smile he wished to see.

He wanted to comfort her

and he thought…

'I believed she needed me'

The spin since then, he would decide

was likened to a coaster ride.

Too much emotion they had sighed,

yet from their love they didn't slide.

So much concerned her.

So much confused her.

But she struggled through it all

and she believed he needed her.

We're in this forever.

That's what they said to each other.

Yes, 'we're in this together'

they agreed

because they needed one another

His love for her grew stronger.

His life revolved for her.

Hopes and dreams for the future,

Yes, he was needing her.

He said that he loves her,

despite extreme emotion,

and his kindness never wavered

despite so much commotion.

So many prayers they said

while asking for relief.

So many tears they shed

while sharing agony.

Years were lost to tethers,

with only troubles, loss and pain.

Not one moment together

was making them insane.

No days for them, not a smile did they see,

They shared nothing together,

and yet they still believed…

Then came the loss and heartache.

They were needing to share

the grief and heartbreak,

but still they couldn't be together.

To pain they were tethered

in worlds opposite.

Though needing each other,

yet apart they still wept.

Alone and confined was their story

They could not hope for more.

Shackled to reality,

they needed hope to restored.

'I love you' texts were futile

just mocking words between them.

Theirs were hearts of fools,

thinking that relief would someday find them.

Their hope remained impaired

Not one day did fate permit them

and their lives are not yet shared.

So…

they go on waiting

and loving from afar

Is their fate sealed forever?

like they live on different stars.

Can their hope be rediscovered

if they still believe?

Will they ever see each other

as they still believe?
