Frustration is mounting.
The party is soon.
You call on your friend
For help around noon.
The feast you've prepared
Lays waste on the counter.
She arrives just in time
And you're covered in flour.
"There's an app for that!"
Her phone's shoved in your face.
A catering company,
Enough time to replace.

As time ticks on by
You start to feel lonely.
Longing for connection,
That borders on holy.
You've been on the dates,
You've met lots of options,
But no one has ever
Checked all the boxes.
"There's an app for that!"
A commercial on screen,
"With quizzes and tests,
For the love of your dreams!"

You meet them on a Tuesday,
A perfect match found.
Your life's working out,
You're on solid ground.
The intimacy is budding,
And the conversation flows,
But something feels empty.
How do you truly know?
"There's an app for that!"
They whisper into your shoulder.
Decisions made by algorithms,
The phone is the beholder.
