Summary

Poetry is a literary art form that is hard to describe. Although some description of poetry have been made, these descriptions do not help to better understand poetry, nor do they contribute to the joy it provides. These descriptions usually reflect the appreciation and understanding of poetry in their times. In poetry, how the words are used is more important than the words themselves. Hence, the language of poetry is different than, the everyday language. In poetry, the way a topic is treated might supersedes the topic. Ideas might take place in a poem but poems are not written to explain ideas. Some poets have found no other way than writing poems to describe what poem is.

Poetry is not just limited to literature. It can also be expressed through sounds, colors, shapes, and movements. The arts, like dance, music, painting, sculpture, and architecture, all have the potential to evoke the same kind of emotions as poetry. When we witness a beautiful dance or listen to a moving piece of music, we can't help but feel moved and inspired. These artistic moves are truly felt in our hearts and souls.

Poetry is a type of literature that has been defined in various ways throughout history. Some people believe that poetry is simply a "metered and rhyming word," which only encompasses a certain type of poetry. However, a more inclusive definition considers poetry to be a "metered, rhymed and imaginative word," which broadens the scope of what can be considered poetry. Some even define poetry as "the art of verse, which is the opposite of prose," but these definitions are not set in stone and have changed over time. There are no clear boundaries when it comes to defining poetry, as its nature is constantly evolving. Ultimately, trying to define poetry from a set of definitions or by analyzing its form will not necessarily enhance one's understanding or enjoyment of it.

The way we define poetry has changed over time, with various movements and periods shaping our understanding of this art form. Over the years, rules have been established and certain characteristics have been identified as defining features of poetry. In the second half of the 19th century, French symbolist poets such as Valery and Mallarmé asserted that poetry is a unique form of language that can't be translated into prose. Poetry is a powerful means of expression, creating beautiful shapes with words. The internal structure of a poem depends on the distribution, composition, and order of words. Poetry is constructed with language, and it's the richness of life experience that gives birth to it.

As a lover of poetry, I've come to appreciate how everyday language can be used to create a unique and powerful experience. There's something almost magical about the way words are stacked together in a poem, forming a special arrangement that can evoke deep emotions and sensations. This arrangement is crucial, as changing even one word can break the spell and disrupt the beautiful weather of meaning that the poem creates.

It's amazing how limitless poetry can be. It exists within the confines of life, yet it flourishes and adds color to our existence. Poetry, like life, may fade and disappear, but it continues to live on in the words of those who write it. Love is just the same. It begins with a person and finds its way into our hearts. People may come and go, but love never truly dies. It continues to live on and reign within our hearts. The howling of the wind, the blossoming and withering of nature, the sweet smell of spring, the crashing waves of the sea, and the twinkling stars above, they are all poetry. Everything, including our sorrows, joys, and the warmth we feel when we hold someone's hand, is poetry. Even the smallest things, like the wind blowing through our hair or the feeling of loneliness, can be poetic. Poetry can evoke a multitude of emotions, from chills of excitement to the first words of love. Poetry is truly unlimited within the limited world of life.
