The Woman Who Loved Too Much
She gave him all of her he gave her nothing in return

The Woman Who Loved Too Much
She gave him her heart and asked for no more,
She loved him like she had never loved before,
She stood by his side when his whole world fell,
But he never noticed the tears she held.
She cooked his meals and waited at night,
She told him everything would be alright,
She forgave every lie and every mistake,
Because she believed love was something to save.
Her friends all told her, you deserve something more,
But she kept defending the man she adored,
She said he was hurting, he needed her there,
While slowly forgetting to care for herself.
One morning she looked in the mirror alone,
And hardly recognised the woman she’d known,
Her eyes had grown tired, her smile had gone,
And suddenly she knew she had stayed too long.
She packed up her clothes and walked out the door,
She cried on the pavement but cried no more,
For loving someone should never mean,
That you lose yourself somewhere in between.
She still loved him, that much was true,
But finally learned what she needed to do,
Sometimes loving someone means letting them go,
And sometimes self love is the hardest to know.
