The Unloved

Those of us who give the love we wished we could receive

Some people just aren’t meant to be loved

They can love others and be in love but never loved themselves

Some people are meant to be the catalyst to finding the true you

The ones that listen to your heart ache

Advise you in your times of trouble

All the while desperately hoping that you’d notice their pining for you

The ones cheering you on from the sidelines but never getting the credit

We have kind faces and even kinder eyes, we are attentive listeners and have soft tones

We somehow always know what to say

And how to comfort

We pass on what we wish had been said to us

We laugh on cue and shed tears with you when you’re grieving

We’re the shoulder to cry on and the stern word needed to get you going again

But somehow we are never the last thing you think of before your eyes close

We are a minor character to aid the development of yours

Just a place to vent and know you’ll be heard

Some people just aren’t meant to be loved

No matter how desperately they wished they were
