The True Celts Wore Blue
Haiku on Freedom
Ireland is green,
Though the ancient Celts wore blue,
Blue eternally!
***********************************************************
Despite the images of green clovers and green leprechauns, green wasn't particularly precious to the ancient Celts. Blue was the color which ressonated the most with my ancestors and reminded them of their free nature.
This legacy was well preserved and documented by Roman writers who mentioned how Celts would often paint themselves blue before battles. Blue meant freedom from the tyranny of Rome, something the Celts died trying to achieve.

Fantastic!! I loved the meaning you included and the images you brought forth with the haiku itself. Well done :)
Love the history on this one. I'm of Scottish descent so we're like cousins, right? :)
Love it! My great-grandmother, Teresa Acton was Irish and came to Canada way back.
Wonderful, educational piece. Very well done.
Love it and the history behind it!!!
