The Tree of Strife

Bleak trunks and tricky branches...

Your promises are like rotten tomatoes,

wretched worldly pleasures and fiendish foes.

You didn't want us to taste the fruit that was right,

so now, night by night we confront and fight.

Generations later,

to your agenda you cater.

You never forget your whispering job of lies,

binding, binding, soul ties.

Curses are your telling web and goal,

on the weakest ones you take a toll.

Why don't people sober up and realize who you are,

instead, they think they are wise enough, to, with you, spar.

Life could have been so much more,

there really could have been much more in store.

But, the story had to have the best kind of plot twist,

so that we would really understand the gist,

that it is all about Redemption,

despite falling into temptation.

Today we stand and toil under the tree of strife,

but tomorrow, in the future, we will sit under the tree of life.
