The Sweetest Love Story of All

Great love starts within.

I am filled with despair,

Deep despair,

When I think of the first time

I turned my back on you.

How I doubted your love for me,

As you stood there with open arms,

That I was too blind to see.

I shudder to think of how I shut my heart to you.

How I kept you at arm's lengths,

How I denied your love,

How I belittled,

Judged,

And shamed you.

I deeply regret cutting you off,

Thinking I didn't need you.

Thinking I didn't deserve you,

I ignored

Your unconditional love,

Your unrelenting kindness,

Your unwavering support.

I grieve the separation that I created

Out of fear and insecurity.

This separation that had left me feeling broken for years,

Was the separation from my own beloved within myself,

My own inner love.

The deep well of love I have for myself.

This separation was the cause of my deepest despair.

But the return to her has been the sweetest love story of all.
