The Stranger’s Spell
Turns out it was a very haunted shop and a man ghost

The Stranger’s Spell
Walking home last night, I saw a stranger
On the street, standing by a shop.
He smiled and tipped his head towards me
And said, Hello dear, your perfume smells so sweet.
I thanked him with a smile and went about
My journey home, and he shouted after me.
“Come back, let’s have a chat.”
He said, I know you’re into mystic things.
To potions and to spells. Well, I’ve got some
For you that’ll start to ring the bells.
And the minute, I thought, he’s read my mind.
I so wanted my boyfriend to propose.
And all at once he pulled this key
And wafted it under my nose.
Come on back come into my shop, dear.
I’ll show you what I’ve got.
And any troubles I can dismiss,
Or problems that you’ve got.
So we went inside this spooky spell shop.
Everything was hanging there.
Potions bottles, everything.
Some even hanging in the air.
I looked upon this spell book.
He opened it, as if he knew the exact page.
He said, Now, just take all this in,
Don’t fly at me in a rage.
You’ve been seeing this man for so long now,
And your relationship’s not going anywhere.
I have got something in this page
That’ll suddenly put love in the air.
He wafted out a magic stick
And tapped my head and said,
By the time you go home tonight,
He will propose to you before bed.
I went home and took it with a pinch of salt.
I thanked him kindly and left his shop.
And when I got home, oh God, was I in for a shock.
A dinner table set with candles,
Glasses of wine, and a marvellous meal.
And I said, What’s this?
He said, Can’t I spoil you?
Just sit down, relax and eat.
So I ate my meal and suddenly
He got down on one knee.
And looked up with those puppy dog eyes,
With a ring in his hand for me.
He said, Please, darling, will you be my wife?
I need you by my side for all my life.
And I said yes and then we kissed.
And then we went to bed.
I couldn’t get it out of my head all night,
Just what the stranger said.
The morning after, I knocked on his shop door,
But the shop was empty.
There was nothing inside and no one there.
So where did that man come from?
That was a full shop that now is bare?
It seems like by midnight it was gone
Or was this man a ghost?
I don’t know just who he was,
But his spell worked on me
And the one that I love most.
So we’ve set a date for next year
To marry with all the finery.
And all this has happened out of the blue
Because a ghost. Did a lovers spell for me.
Then vanished from here the moment I was free.
Free at last of the bad spell a lady relative which had put on me.
