The Star that was hung too close

Pretty to look at but lonely to be

Don't get too close or

You'll burn

A million nuclear bombs

Evaporating time and space

All the good:

Life giving,

Warmth,

Loveliness;

It's only a necessity

From afar

Only pleasant

From afar

Stay

eight minutes,

95 million miles,

15.54795×10^-6 light-years,

Far away.

Because he

Vaporized the last one who flew too close,

Melted wings,

Blasted with radiation,

Cursed them to be a mindless

weeds that bare his name

Fragile humanity

Is blistered by his touch

Too soft to take

His affection

Without his pain.

Even the rocks

Strung by the gods

Were given armor

To protect their people

Those who weren't-

Uninhabitable.

Desecrated.

He will destroy all life

before he gives it.

Eventually

He will burn up

And take them all

With him.

Stars are pretty to look at

But lonely

to be.
