The Spell I Whisper For Us

I do not light these candles for show,

I light them because hope needs warmth.

The flame trembles like my waiting heart,

Yet it does not go out.

On the table lies the card of love,

Two figures held inside their own sky.

I trace the outline with steady fingers,

As if I am tracing us back together.

If distance has wrapped itself around us,

Let it loosen its grip tonight.

If silence has built its quiet walls,

Let one crack open with mercy.

I speak your name into the soft air,

Not loudly, not with desperation.

Only with certainty that what is true

Cannot be erased by time.

Let every feather here carry a message,

Let every spark lift my prayer.

I send no chains, no binding force,

Only an invitation for love to return home.

If pride stands in the doorway,

Let it step aside with grace.

If fear clouds your thinking,

Let clarity find you in sleep.

I do not ask to change your will,

I ask for hearts to remember.

For the path between us to glow again,

Clear and unmistakable.

The candles burn lower now,

But my faith stands taller.

If we are written in the same book,

The page will turn back to us.

And when you feel it, even faintly,

That pull you cannot explain,

Know it is not magic or illusion,

It is love calling you home.
