Reaching high into the sky

The limbs reached for each other, one up; one down, like two lovers who just got back to town,

Her eyes with thick black lashes, and a slender face, and his arm reaching for her through crowded space,

The limbs within the tree were bending with the wind,

And the other trees were watching, hoping the the two lost lovers would be one again,

The wind began to roar and the base of the tree shook hard,

The limbs swung closer and then back apart,

I may be just a limb, but I also have a soul,

A soul that knows love, and also grows old.

About the Creator

Denise Willis

I love art as much as writing, and when the world feels dark, I get out my paper and colored pencils and draw while listening to music. When my husband and I were going through a divorce, journaling is what got me through that..
