The Smile

A Poem

It is contagious, once in contact,

It spreads like a wildfire

Turning up the corners of the mouth

Quickly spreading to all around

** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * **

There is nothing

More beautiful than

A pure and free smile

One that is there just

To spread the joy

One has to share

The one that seems

To come from those

Truly content

In their lot in life

The toothless

Young and old

The young

And in love

The pure joy

On their faces

As they smile

Hugely, unashamedly

Spreading their

Good cheer to

All who see them

** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * **

Smiles

Are free

So share them

Daily, with all you

See and spread the joy

To young and to old alike

We all need some joy in our

Lives and a little bit of kindness and

Laughter goes a long way in helping to cheer

Up a person who is down, so share a smile

** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * ** * **

A smile is joyful to see

A smile is very contagious infection

A smile is the most beautiful thing

A smile is breathtakingly spectacularly special

A smile is full of hope

A smile is an uplifting lifesaver.

This is a nice ode to smile, Shannon. I so got used to smiling in the US that when I go home into the post-Soviet space and start smiling at all people, they look at me like I'm crazy. Happy New Year!
