The Sky At Noon Turned Black

Everyone knew it was not night.

The Sky At Noon Turned Black

The sky at noon turned black without warning

No storm announced what was coming near

Daylight folded into something colder

And silence carried a different fear

People looked upward and stopped speaking

Shadows stretched where none belonged

The birds abandoned unfinished circles

And every familiar feeling felt wrong

The sun disappeared behind a curtain

Not of cloud and not of rain

Only darkness pressed against the hours

And wrapped itself around each name

Streetlights blinked into weak existence

Though clocks insisted it was day

Children stood still at windows watching

Wondering where the brightness went away

I stayed outside and let it happen

Watched the world lose all disguise

Because some darkness lives in daylight

Hidden behind ordinary skies

No thunder came to mark the ending

No loud collapse and no final sound

Just a slow acceptance spreading

As colour drained from all around

Perhaps the sky was tired of shining

Perhaps it carried too much weight

Perhaps it mirrored every hidden grief

That people learn to decorate

When noon became a darker hour

I understood something quietly true

Light is never fully promised

And black skies call for some people at noon
