You dragged me from the ocean bed,

pumped my lungs,

gave me breath.

Revived my faith in love and humankind.

.

I placed you on a pedestal.

Falling off was inevitable,

and I wasn’t there

to piece you back together.

.

I couldn’t hold my trusting view,

it plummeted with my belief in you.

You didn’t deserve my rejection,

nor my anger.

.

I know that I was so very wrong,

hence I humbly sit and sing this song,

to tell you over and over

that I’m sorry.

.

I’m so very sorry for it all.

The lies and truths

And my withdrawal.

I’m sorry, so sorry.

.

I’m sorry I never held you close

through all these years that we have lost.

Those demons grew much too loud,

and my ego it grew - too damn proud.

.

You needed someone stronger,

someone not so terrified.

You needed someone softer,

who wasn’t programmed to just survive.

.

You needed the love that I am now,

without condition or petty fall out.

You needed all that I now live,

which wasn’t there before to give.

.

There is no other man for me,

you are the only soul I choose to see.

So even if it takes an eternity

for you to journey back to me

.

I will wait here patiently.
