The shadows you see.

They come as they please.

Locked inside the darkness.

Your hands over your ears.

You shut your eyes tight.

You wish away the fear.

You pray it's just a dream.

You look into the darkness.

You try to see your fate.

Into the darkness, you must go.

You awake in a sweat,

You sit up with fear.

It was all just a dream.

Better yet it was a nightmare.

They won't go away.

You turn on the lights.

You glance around the room.

You check all the corners.

You stand there alone.

You sigh in relief,

A short shaky breath.

And the creatures you thought disappeared,

Were never really there.
