As I walk down the street

in the middle of the night

looking at my feet

I see something that gave me a fright.

I looked behind me

and see a shadow of a man

I hoped he would leave me be

but instead I turned and ran.

The shadow followed me all the way down the street

I turned and looked behind me

the shadow was right at my feet

not long until it would reach me.

I was frightened and afraid

I wanted to get away

I prayed and prayed and prayed

I realized it wasn't fading away.

It was my own shadow.
