The Seams of My Heart

The Cracks in Cement

By Poppy Published about a year ago Updated 6 months ago 1 min read

I’m lying in bed

Phantom tears

Threatening to fall

Thinking of you

You’re in a park with her

Stepping over the

Cracks in the concrete

Not noticing them

Just like you didn’t notice

The seams of my heart

Coming loose beneath

Your grasp

You have so much

Blood on your hands

And you still have

The audacity to

Run them through her hair

Like your skin is clean and

Dirt is not under your nails

From the time you dug a grave

Just for the attention

I’m screaming

And crying

And breaking

But it wouldn’t matter

If I was dying because

You’re too busy playing her

To care about how

You ruined me
