The Scream

Intense is the sound, as love meets despair

The most heart-wrenching for me is hearing the anguished cries of parents

The Scream

In silence, heartache echoes loud and clear,

A wailing, soul-crushing cry filled with fear.

Intense is the sound, as love meets despair,

A parental lament permeating the air.

Cries pierce the night, as stars lose their glow,

A sorrow so profound, only bereaved hearts know.

Overdramatic it seems, till it’s your own voice,

In a world where death leaves no choice.

A scream that shatters the quiet at dawn,

A testament to a bond, forever gone.

The sound of a heart, breaking in two,

A cry of a parent, mourning their youth.

So, listen closely, to that heart-rending sound,

It’s the echo of love, in grief profound.

For no greater loss, can one ever bear,

Then the sound of a parent, in utter despair.

You can't fathom the frequency of child loss until you've endured the unimaginable pain of losing your own. Suddenly, every sick, dying, or deceased child in the world becomes painfully apparent. The most heart-wrenching for me is hearing the anguished cries of parents as they come to terms with the irreversible loss of their child. I used to believe that such dramatic scenes were exaggerated on TV, that the wailing sounds were merely an actor's portrayal. Sadly, reality has shattered that illusion. I wish I had been wrong, but now I know the truth because I've personally felt the agony, and my own voice has made that sound. I've embraced grieving friends, sharing in their sorrow as they too endure the loss of their children. I wish I did not fully understand the profound accuracy of those portrayals.
