She thought it was love,

but it was really a cage.

Her spirit caged in like a bird in flight,

She couldn't break free no matter the fight.

The words they exchanged were full of spite,

Controlling her every move day and night.

From expectations to manipulation,

He would never accept any deviation.

The love she once felt had turned to fear,

No escape from the prison wall she so dearly held near.

Though life felt like a never ending torture session,                                                                                She put up with it for fear of rejection.

But finally she realized enough is enough,                                        

And stood on her own with courage and toughs.

Taking back control of her life to be free at last -    

An end to the abusive toxic past!
