The river soothes her soul,
As she walks along it.
The city itself
Calls out to her,
Offering its promise.
She was meant
To be here,
That’s all she knows.
So, she walks along,
The river,
The tidal river,
Following its twists and turns.
Letting it heal her,
As it flows in and out,
In its timeless rhythm.

Before I lived in Brisbane I had never lived in a town with a river before. This poem was inspired by the mighty Brisbane River, which I have walked along often, enjoying the secret life I discover on the paths I tread.
