The Reflection

A woman stares at me, and I stare back

A woman catches my attention

Her eyes with specks of the richest browns

stare back at me

I stare back in a hypnotic sense of wonder

and am pulled into a sea of mystery

more than one could ever know

a whirlwind of mixed emotions

Her eyes reflect uncertainty, doubt

Her soul, tired and unsure

I look again into her eyes

and see

determination

strength

confidence

There's an ember of confidence that burns in her eyes

even if it's just a spark

I catch a glimpse of a smile

Her smile is like no other

She's perfectly flawed,

like a ragged gem stone unearthed before it's polished

I smile knowing she'll be okay

That I'll be okay

as I walk away from my reflection
