The Rebound

We've all been there.

You trip,

Tripping over your own feet, a toddler learning to walk.

Then you fall,

Falling faster than you’ve ever fallen before.

You feel good,

Better than good, you feel great.

How could such joy be born within such heartache?

Heartache, heartbreak, you broke, you were broken,

No.

All is fixed, you’re fixed.

You’re healed.

Healed wounds, or covered?

You feel better so you’re not bothered.

You’re whole,

The hole that was left has been filled.

What hole? No hole, you’ve always been whole.

Yet you had thought your life would never feel whole again.

Breathe, this is whole.

This ache,

No ache, this is great.

You crack,

No cracks, relax, bring that smile back.

Covered wounds seep.

The cover doesn’t quite fit.

This is happiness.

And you’ve found it.

Regret, you regret.

You regret not healing,

Not breathing.

Running before you could walk.

This isn’t fixed,

This isn’t whole.

You were whole without finding someone to fill a conceptual hole.

You fell over your own feet.

You never fell for them.
