The Real Reason He Is Called An Ape, Gorilla Or Monkey

Would you care to be referred to as a big monkey, ape, or gorilla?

I said to the hubby, I know someone close to you calls you a big ape!

She may not know the difference between a gorilla with a cape!

I love spending time with you, as there is never a dull moment,

we can just look in the direction of one another and lament!

****

Grieving over the loss of someone near and dear,

we don’t always need to talk about it or hear!

The war is another thing we know too well,

with so many loved ones who have faced that hell!

Aging makes it appear there is way more loss!

One friend tells me it is a funeral every week they hold,

in her community and it is both young and old.

Some are drug involved, while others are age and health,

still, others are accidents and that is just a dent. No wealth

of family members living to old age anymore, she said,

it is too many funerals and traditional, they are not. Instead

they are a mixture of this and that today, and that is okay I say.

****

Enough of this, for now, it is about the Monkey anyhow

We can cry and laugh together and that is a rare find

The laughter keeps me from dipping into the kind

of depression that takes me to a place where I don’t want to go

All the death and dying, the war and crying, can be tough, so

let us spend time with play and laughter all day!

****

Starting today,

we will have two grandchildren to help us do that

They will be so much fun, and I will spend less time with the brat!

I love having grandchildren around to keep him distracted from me.

****

His sister, nieces, and nephew know, he isn’t a real gorilla, ape, or monkey!

The name is due to him being a tease, pest, brat, just like a monkey you see.

He calls the grandchildren monkey and points at others to teach the baby,

the monkey game, where he says, "who's the monkey?" Then he will point,

to one of her cousins and laugh until she laughs too, his job is to anoint.

All know who the real monkey is, and don't disappoint,

when any of them says, "Who is the real monkey?" they point to

Grandpa and get all out of joint and laugh and the little ones do too!
