The Quiet Soul’s Confession

Please, Not Today!

By AtiqbuddyPublished about a year ago • 1 min read

I cannot mingle anymore,

My soul feels overstretched

I’ll shut the window, lock the door,

And let my mind just rest.

A pillow, blanket, steaming tea,

The silence feels divine.

I switch from chat to privacy

In half a blink of time.

I’ve hit the wall, I’ve hit the sack,

I’ve hit my final straw.

And if you push, I may push back—

Respect my need to withdraw.

It isn’t rude, it isn’t mean,

It’s just the way I cope.

To leave the noise, escape the scene,

And guard my ounce of hope.

Unless the planets all agree,

The timing feels just right,

I’ll gladly choose tranquility

And stay at home tonight.

I ration energy each day,

Like coins in a small purse.

When crowds demand too much of me,

It only gets much worse.

So please don’t beg or plead again,

Don’t plan a grand parade.

Each social call becomes a strain

On what’s left of my shade.

Go paint the town, go chase the thrill,

Go sing, go dance, go play.

But let me keep my refuge still,

And come another day.

Ah, sacred silence, gentle space,

The calm I love so well.

This is my truth, my saving grace—

A simple, sweet farewell.
