why you so quiet?

You’re such a vibe.

They say I’m too quiet

You don’t understand the pain it gives me when I do speak and get ignored

You don’t understand the pain that speaks through me when I mention something and no one cares to understand

You don’t know the pain I feel when I suggest an idea and it goes unnoticed

You don’t understand my pain

So, I stay quiet

Mention it to myself in my head

To me, it’s valid

I speak to myself on a daily basis

It’s become my home

People don’t understand that quiet people need to be seen

They long to be seen

When they are not it’s a quiet pain they can’t bear

Yesterday I listened to everything you said and did what you wanted me to

Today, I suggested something and you ignored it.

That is why I’m quiet.

Sometimes there’s no point in speaking.

Speaking everything out loud is pointless to me.

You only like me when I crack a joke

You only like me when I entertain you

Otherwise, I’m just a person sitting here wandering where I belong

I don’t always feel like I belong anywhere

That’s another pain I try to get through

When I speak I get judged

When I don’t speak I’m not a vibe

I never win

So, I talk to myself.

My best friend is me.

You don’t understand that I’m sensitive to the noise.

Sensitive to the hurt.

Sensitive to the pain I carry with me.

I just want to be seen

I just want to be heard

I just want to be loved

I’m no different than you

I’m just a quieter person

My mouth doesn’t carry to far away from my face.

But, I do think a lot

A lot I should say

One day, I’ll get over the pain.

One day, I’ll the build the courage to connect

Or I’ll sit here and talk to myself instead.

Love myself instead.

What a journey that will take

To get to a place of content

Then, I’ll be ok with talking to others again

If I love myself then I’ll know I can be my own friend

I think it’s time to realize that this is the case for me

That here and now is where I’m meant to be

Getting to know myself internally

To love the little quirks that make me

To love the little things about me

To love the everyday struggles that make me human

To love the wants and needs

To love the smile in the mirror

To love the way that I walk and talk

To love the way I dress

It’s time to be my own savior

It’s time to be my own hero

They say no one is coming to save you

I’ve held onto that belief that people will save me

It’s time to let go

It’s time to come close to myself

It’s time to dig deep and find me

It’s time to feel the emptiness with love inside of me

There’s so much to do

There so much to love about me

It’s now or never

It’s my time

Time is of the essence

Time is all I need

Time to let go of the pain and let love ride the rest of the way

Time to let love in and never go away

For all I know this life is all we have

This time is all we get

So, I’m gonna love myself a little harder

Love myself stronger

Love myself more and more each day

For love transcends time and space.
