The Quest

Love's freedom

All she wanted was a simple answer,

One which he could not retract,

And though this seemed simple to the common herd,

He was not forthcoming in the act.

More of his time was spent exclusively

On his insecurities and booze,

Than on the subtle shade of his reflection,

Something he valued so much as to lose.

Haply caught up in his own misery

Was his preferred management of time,

Becoming no more than he was already

Never registered as being a crime.

As his perception of what he would lose

Seemed not to enter into his mind,

She could not stand to continue the battle

To find answers he endeavored to find.

So she left upon a steed of virtue,

Hoping she need never love again,

Starting on the distant road to discover

Happiness does not always include men.
