The Promise of Love

In the depths of devotion, a heart lost to passion and fate

By Ahmed HatimyPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

I lost myself, forgot my name,

Yet promised you love, a burning flame.

I gave you a heart, so soft and true,

And for your sake, love’s laws I drew.

Loyalty was never in doubt,

For I don't betray, nor cast love out.

You’re the one my heart desires,

The one that lights my soul’s fires.

I loved you knowing love’s a curse,

But couldn't stop—it only got worse.

Don’t ask me why, I cannot explain,

I love you deeply, beyond the pain.

How I long to be by your side,

To hear your words and in them confide.

Your whispers, your sighs, your every breath,

I’d cherish them all, even unto death.

Your passion, your warmth, your silent gaze,

I’d hold them close through all my days.

Your love, your touch, your thoughtful mind,

In every part of you, my heart is entwined.
