Chasing dreams with great enthusiasm… on a treadmill, going absolutely nowhere

I sit at my desk, eyes locked onto the blinking cursor. It mocks me. It winks, as if saying, “Still nothing, huh?”

I sigh dramatically. Today, I will— be productive. Today, I will— tackle my goals. Today, I will—

“Oh look, a documentary on why pigeons bob their heads when they walk!”

Three hours later, I emerge from the internet rabbit hole, blinking at the real world, now armed with enough pigeon knowledge to start a TED Talk. If success were measured in trivia, I’d be a billionaire. But alas, my to-do list remains untouched.

The sands of time keep slipping through my fingers like that bag of chips I swore I wouldn’t open. I tell myself time is money, but judging by my productivity, I must be on an unlimited free trial. I reach out to grasp opportunity, but grasping it feels like trying to catch a greased-up watermelon.

My brain, a place of boundless creativity and chaos, dreams a thousand dreams—each slipping away like a name I should know but can't recall for the life of me. I make plans, set tasks, and then, like a magician with commitment issues, I make them disappear.

But today will be different. Today, I will get my life together!

I sit up straighter, crack my knuckles, and stare determinedly at my to-do list. The first task: Write an article about productivity struggles.

Perfect.

I flex my fingers over the keyboard.

I take a deep breath.

I open a new pad.

Before I know it, I’m watching a video titled “The art and Ethics of Sandwich Construction”

Motivation is that one Gym membership I keep paying for but never actually use.

Maybe I'll get around to using it

or at least I'll frame it as a reminder of what could have been...
