Once upon a time, there lived a fool who fell in love with the island princess
of Yule. Unaware that at the exact same moment in time, there lived a
princess who had fallen in love with the most handsome of fools. Legend
tells us that the fool proposed his hand for marriage, but the princess was
arranged to marry a rich king with a famed horse and jeweled carriage.
Defying family traditions, social norms, and royal decree, the princess and
the fool declared their love in the sea. Bartering her jewelry for a boat and
some rations, her fool used his education to navigate them safe passage.
Many years passed, until the day two strange travelers arrived in the
bay. Their faces felt familiar, yet appeared foreign and far away.
For the island had forgotten about the princess and the fool,
so their children blended in. Gaining trust. Attending school.
More years passed, and the children became adults, acquiring
political positions, causing change with real results. Another
decade passes, and the children are now the monarchs, when an
old boat docks in the bay sporting the crest of their family's birthmark.
The Princess and the Fool stepped out onto the sand, and smiled at
how their love created a revelation throughout the land.

Nice job. True love wins out and the kingdom moves into the right hands after all. It's a well told little tale.
A very creative short story!
