The Price You Pay

Skimming The Red

By Kelli Sheckler-AmsdenPublished 2 years ago • 1 min read

That isn’t my stuff

It's no longer my home

I called your bluff

Now I’m alone

A choice that I made

And I had to make it

I swallowed the blame

Consequences complicate

Acknowledged the price

That comes with release

I offered the knife

To create my peace

I felt the blade

Cutting a path

Held it anyway

Love's aftermath

Creating a hole

With no rush to fix it

A place for my soul

To find comfort and quiet

The dance and the dancer

Finding the beat

Sweet taste of surrender

With the touch of bare feet

Tender is the thought

That love could be again

When the space that you fought for

Allows you to let it back in
