The Pope Has Died

The bells are low, the windows bare,

A hush has settled in the square.

His voice, once strong, is still tonight.

A soul has slipped beyond the light.

The robes are folded, prayers are said,

A world in mourning bows its head.

No footsteps echo down the hall,

Just candle smoke against the wall.

No trumpets call, no choirs sing,

Just silence round the shepherd’s ring.

The people wait with tear-streaked eyes.

The Pope has gone, and heaven cries.

Twas only yesterday appeared ok

then this sad news rings out today.

His suffering over, now at rest.

A man the world respected and blessed.

R.I.P. Your suffering is over.

A tired body now sleeps

heavenly blessed forever more.

Just one man, The world adored.
